Staining and lightening old-fashioned dark grout on the tile countertop is an excellent way to give a kitchen a facelift on a small budget. Removing clutter to show off the amount of space in a small kitchen is always a winner.

In this example, the homeowner also replaced dated appliances with new stainless steel: on a lower budget, simply making sure the kitchen is absolutely spotless is the key to success.

This room did not require a huge amount of work: removing the bookcase, books and personal ornaments made the room clutter free. Reducing the size of the table by removing the leaf emphasised the size of the room, and the addition of stylish blinds to added class.

Don't forget outdoors--make sure the first impression is bright and inviting! In this example, odds-and-ends have been tidied away, the cement path has been power-washed and the fence has been given a bright, clean coat of paint.

Tired-looking kitchen cabinets can gain a new life with paint plus new hardware. A few hours work, and the kitchen is a gem. In this example, the tile countertop was also regrouted, and accessories added to match the new cabinet hardware.
